Another characteristic of the greater flamingo is the extensive black on the tip of its bill. The greater flamingo is the largest of all flamingo species and it can stand at 150 cm tall, weighing in at 2 to 4 kg. The easiest way to spot the difference between the two species is when they are together. The remaining 2 species, the lesser and greater flamingo, are found in Europe, Asia and Africa including Tanzania. In total there are 6 flamingo species in the world, 4 of which occur in North and South America.
